October 31 marks the twelfth anniversary of the release of the Bitcoin white paper, which was authored by Satoshi Nakamoto. And while he, she, or they are not around to accept our thanks (or maybe they're reading this right now…) the birthday celebration has never seemed more important.
In this relatively short period of time, Bitcoin has challenged the way modern society looks at global finance and banking. While it hasn't yet replaced the legacy system (and as time goes on, even once-hostile bankers are now becoming superfans) Bitcoin has made an indelible mark on the world.
What's in store for it's 13th year? We'll only make one prediction: There will be even more people wishing Bitcoin a happy birthday next year, than there are this year.
